Location: Grand Hall CD (LL2)
Join in on this four-part, one-day workshop series presented by some of the most preeminent organizations working on issues of journalist safety today. Those who participate in all four workshop modules will get a comprehensive experience beginning in the morning with practical skillbuilding and finishing in the afternoon with community connection and in-room peer support.
In this session:
Why are some communication platforms safer than others? What should journalists consider when communicating about sensitive topics? What is encryption, anyway? This one hour session with digital security trainers from Freedom of the Press Foundation will answer these questions and more. Starting with an overview of basic secure communication concepts and tooling and digging into secure communications planning for real-world scenarios, this session will demystify concerns and leave plenty of time for questions. Whether you are a total beginner or are already learning about digital security, we welcome you to join us.
RSVP is required for each part of the series and ONA24 attendees can opt to register for all four modules or selectively attend those that align with their interests. ONA conference registration is required to sign up. Registered attendees can sign up using their personalized account link found in your registration confirmation email sent by registration@journalists.org.
