Eric Athas a deputy editor on the Newsroom Development & Support team at The New York Times, which helps editors and reporters learn new tools and skills they can use to tell stories.
He is currently writing a book about how to reshape your relationship with new things to save you time, money, attention, and overall happiness. He also writes a weekly newsletter on the same topic.
Eric has worked in journalism for more than 15 years. Before joining The New York Times in 2016, he worked at NPR, starting in 2011, after spending three years at The Washington Post. His writing has been published in The New York Times, The Washington Post, the Nieman Journalism Lab and Fast Company. Eric grew up in the Boston suburbs and attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism.
