Laura Krantz McNeill is a journalist and media leader specializing in news product strategy and working to find sustainable business models for high-quality journalism.
She currently serves as senior editor for subscriber products at The Chronicle of Higher Education, where she oversees editorial products including the daily flagship newsletter. She also works on cross-functional teams to grow audiences and improve retention.
For more than a decade, Laura worked as a reporter covering local, regional and national news at legacy and nonprofit news outlets including seven years at The Boston Globe and previously at VTDigger in Vermont.
She is also a 2023 graduate of the Executive Program in News Innovation and Leadership at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at the City University of New York, where her research focused on redefining the skill set of media leadership in the era of community-centric journalism. She is also a member of the News Product Alliance and News Alchemists.
Laura is proud to have served as the advising editor for the Mass Media, the student newspaper of The University of Massachusetts at Boston, and to have helped launch the journalism mentorship program at the New England First Amendment Coalition.
She is a graduate of Boston University and lives in Washington, D.C. with her husband and dog, Christopher.
