Two Associated Press experts will give concrete guidance on how to avoid the hype and serve our audiences in the artificial intelligence era: by sticking to basic reporting principles to unlock new areas of AI coverage, and steer ethical newsroom AI standards. AP global investigative journalist Garance Burke will provide attendees with a hands-on training featuring best practices from her work developing the AP Stylebook’s new AI chapter, to empower reporters across every beat to cover AI. AP Vice President for Standards and Inclusion Amanda Barrett will discuss how nuanced reporting on AI systems in turn informs AP’s ethical standards, supports inclusive coverage and builds trust with our audiences.
