Angela Chao is the Head of Global News and Director of Content at Healthline Media (part of RVO Health), the leading health and wellness property, which includes digital publications and platforms such as Healthline, Medical News Today, Psych Central, Healthgrades, Bezzy, and Greatist.
In her current role, she leads all aspects of the news content, operations, and strategies, while developing and lauching new, priority content products and business initiatives through cross-functional and people leadership as well as collaboration with others across content, product, engineering, sales, DEIB, PR, and HR teams. Angela overseas an international team of news editors, freelance writers, medical/life-sciences credentialed fact-checkers, and podcast producers to coordinate and publish original, global coverage of the latest health and medical news, research, and condition-focused scientific breakthroughs across several brands that draw millions of readers each month.
Angela is a digital pioneer who’s led numerous cutting-edge, large-scale content experiments across web, social media, OTT and emerging platforms that resulted in exponential audience and revenue growth for multiple news organizations. Her passion for storytelling, innovation, and producing high-quality journalism content as well as her diverse experience in both traditional and emerging media served her well as a reporter, producer, editor as well as a digital and people leader in various newsrooms.
Previously, she was the first Digital Executive Producer at NBC Atlanta/11Alive, a Tegna station. She also worked as a supervising producer and led digital innovations at companies such as The Weather Channel/weather.com and USA TODAY NETWORK/Gannett. During her early career, Angela helped launch two successful digital news startups after gaining experience as a local TV reporter and producer.
Angela has a master’s degree from the University of Missouri School of Journalism and a bachelor’s degree with a double major in broadcast journalism and sociology from Washington State University's Edward R. Murrow College of Communications. She's a trilingual fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
