Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer, Black and Missing Foundation
Natalie Wilson is the co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of the Black and Missing Foundation, Inc. (BAMFI). With twenty years of experience in public and media relations, Natalie is deeply involved in all aspects of BAMFI’s operations. She plays a crucial role in the development and execution of strategic outreach and public relations efforts to ensure the foundation's mission and initiatives receive the media attention they deserve. Natalie understands the power and reach of media coverage, as underscored by the award-winning HBO docuseries “Black and Missing.” She has successfully garnered local, national, and international media attention on platforms such as The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, The View, Associated Press, CNN, Essence, Fox 5 DC, Huffington Post Black Voices, NPR, Oxygen.com, People, The Root, The Grio, Oprah Daily, New York Times, and the Washington Post. This extensive coverage keeps the issue of missing and exploited persons of color at the forefront.
Natalie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Howard University, a Master of Arts in Communications from Trinity University, and has completed the Strategic Perspectives in Non-Profit Management program at Harvard Business School Executive Education. Her work and dedication have earned her numerous accolades, including the Black Girls Rock! “Community Change Agent” award, L’Oréal Paris “Women of Worth” Honoree, Inaugural CrimeCon “Crime Fighter of the Year” award, 15th Television Academy Honoree, and recognition as a 2022 “Ebony Power 100” Honoree and a 2022 “The Root 100” Most Influential Black American for Activism/Justice.
In addition to her role at BAMFI, Natalie is the founder of NWR Communications Group, a boutique public relations agency. This agency helps nonprofits, foundations, and businesses gain visibility for their social justice platforms, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts, and true-crime elements through effective publicity and social media strategies. Natalie is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) and ColorComm. She resides in Washington, DC with her family.
