Community Engagement Editor
Canopy Atlanta, Georgia, United States
Stephanie assists with community development and strategy for Canopy Atlanta’s community engagement efforts. She’s been involved with introducing new audience events like the ATL Living Lab series at Canopy Atlanta, which has helped grow storytelling, community awareness and provide helpful resources to residents about tackling the cost of living.
Storytelling began as a hobby for Stephanie as a child. What started as short stories and journal entries about run-ins with classroom bullies graduated to a career reporting and editing for several prominent publications in the South, including the Augusta Chronicle, Atlanta Journal-Constitution and The Tennessean. At the AJC, she helped the newsroom experiment and eventually develop a hyperlocal vertical and created several content series to expand the media company's millennial and black audiences.
Outside of journalism, she’s worked in nonprofit communications and executive produced, co-created and co-hosted “What’s the Word?,” a podcast with a comedic take on Black culture and social issues dissected by two Southern Black women.
Stephanie is a Nashville native, mother of one and avid lover of travel, theater and nature (not necessarily in that order).
