Paris M. Brown, the Publisher of The Baltimore Times, leverages her 25 years of experience in business development and marketing. As Associate Publisher, Paris spent the past three years shifting towards a digital-first approach, markedly boosting digital revenue through targeted campaigns and innovative revenue models based on the company’s technology stack, and participation in Google News Initiative (GNI) training programs. Ms. Brown proactively utilizes advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR), and augmented reality (AR), to create interactive and immersive content that deeply engages the publication's audience. As a small newsroom, the use of AI and other technology has helped improved the efficiency of and operation of the organization.
Ms. Brown focuses on strengthening partnerships and providing integrated solutions across print and digital platforms to enhance revenue generation. Under her guidance, The Baltimore Times has seen organic growth in its social media influence and engagement, achieving peaks of over 200K interactions despite a combined social media following of just 10K. This success is largely due to the strategic use of video and dynamic imagery.
The Baltimore Times remains committed to innovation, continuously exploring new engagement strategies, developing new products, and expanding its reach through strategic events and partnerships. These efforts have been instrumental in boosting The Baltimore Times’s brand recognition. The publication was established almost 40 years ago to promote positive community stories and events that improve the quality of life of its readers, followers, and subscribers. This remains the mission and focus of the newsroom.
Recent initiatives include the groundbreaking arts and culture initiative, Creatively Black Baltimore, which is the region’s largest pop-up exhibition of Black art. Other notable efforts include partnerships with the Maryland Cycling Classic, the nation’s largest cycling event, and transforming newspaper boxes into promotional billboards.
