Kimberly Griffin is a seasoned revenue generation expert with over two decades of fundraising, marketing, sales, and advertising experience.
She is the founding publisher and chief revenue officer of the Mississippi Free Press, a statewide nonprofit, nonpartisan news outlet focusing on solutions-based journalism.
Kimberly is currently part of Poynter Institute’s Media Transformation Challenge, focusing on expanding the Mississippi Free Press’s reach and brand awareness in the Mississippi Delta and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. During her tenure at the Mississippi Free Press, she has led successful bi-annual seasonal fundraising campaigns, the Meta Membership North American Reader cohort team, and the launch of the MFP VIP Club membership program. Additionally, she oversees an omnichannel fundraising marketing campaign.
Kimberly was named a Local Independent Publisher Revenue (LION) Growth fellow and the Institute of Nonprofit News 2022 Emerging Nonprofit News Leader of the Year. She serves on the Lenfest Statewide News Collective Advisory Board and the Association of Alternative News Media board. She was also a top ten finalist for the 2023 Mississippi Business Journal Business Woman of the Year.
Previously, she was the Associate Publisher at Jackson Free Press, where she coached salespeople and helped create company-wide sales targets.
Kimberly is a lifetime member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., a member of the Junior League of Jackson, and a graduate of Leadership Mississippi.
Kimberly holds a Master of Science in Public Relations from the University of Southern Mississippi and a Bachelor of Science in Journalism with an emphasis on Public Relations from Mississippi University for Women.
Kimberly is an auntie, a traveler, an Orangetheory enthusiast, a reader of mysteries and most everything else, a history buff, and a better-than-average cook and baker. She is looking for her forever Spades partner. Kimberly knows that local media will save democracy if we let it.
