Journalism Audience, Biz and Content Strategy
Project C
Liz helps media companies, newsrooms and journalists consider the evolution of our field and how we can ensure equitable access to news and information for all. From editorial development to partnerships and fundraising to revenue and content strategy to organizational change management, Liz crafts thoughtful mission-driven approaches designed with an eye towards the future.
Lately, she’s been developing support systems and biz plans for independent mission-driven journalism creators and helping news providers understand and better serve the brains that will chart our collective future: Gens Z and Alpha. That work culminated in Project C – a newsletter and pre-funding accelerator (let’s talk!) aimed at the budding creator journalism space. In 2024, Liz was named on Journalism.co.uk’s list of 21 women to watch covering the independent publishing sector.
Liz just completed the 2024 Sulzberger Fellowship for Executive Leadership at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism where she iterated and improved the structure of Project C. She’s also consulting with CalMatters where she’s been helping the team dig into learnings from their two years of programs aimed at improving youth news literacy.
Previously, Liz served as VP of vox.com in service of a mission to create equity through access to information and build sustainable, diversified revenue streams. She grew Vox's flagship daily news podcast, Today, Explained, to millions of downloads and distribution across 125+ public radio stations. Earlier, Liz worked at USA Today, The Palm Springs Desert Sun, Zap2It, AOL and The Washington Post – where she created and grew Celebritology, an early aughts blog/column devoted to unpacking celeb and TV culture, into the a top destination on washingtonpost.com for 6+ years. She’s lived many fulfilling media lives as a content developer, managing editor, blogger and business lead. The throughline in LIz’s career is constant innovation and disruption.
